Crime on The Costa del Sol
Daisy’s Chain began not as a crime thriller, but as a character study: What happens when a girl born into money, power, and notoriety grows up trying to impress a father she barely knows?
Daisy is the daughter of John, a wealthy former East End gangster, now semi-retired and living in Marbella — the so-called Costa del Crime. Her mother, Terri, was once the housekeeper. Theirs is not a traditional family, but John marries her when she becomes pregnant, and together they raise Daisy in the sun-drenched shadows of their pasts.
Daisy idolises her father, but he remains emotionally distant. As she grows older, her antics become more outrageous — not for rebellion, but for attention. Until one day, she goes too far.
A disastrous error leads to tragedy. Her parents end up in hospital. Her mother, Terri, sees that Daisy has to change. But how do you punish a girl who already has everything?
The story that unfolds is part crime, part redemption, part dark family drama. I wrote it to explore how privilege can distort values, how love can get tangled in power, and how some lessons in life come far too late — but still just in time.
Daisy’s Chain is not a crime caper. It’s a tragic tale wrapped in sunlight — but one with a hopeful ending.
