Coming Full Circle

It seems that I have come full circle in my life... You can find out why I say that by reading on.

Herbs, Healing, and a Family Tradition

For as long as I can remember, herbs have been part of my life.

My father wanted to be a doctor. His parents had no money, and the class system would probably have blocked him anyway. So, since he and his family were already Spiritualists, he became a Faith Healer, and healed the sick in his spare time. I think he would have been good at herbs.

My mother helped me create a herb garden when I was about five years old. Her father dug it out for us. She used herbs in her cooking every day. When I went to university at eighteen, I created an indoor herb garden in pots, which I used in a similar way.

Then I got distracted. Life happened. The herbs faded into the background.

Now, fifty years later, I live in rural Thailand, and my Thai wife gathers, grows, and uses herbs and spices every day in her cooking. Just like my mother used to. It is a dead art in the UK now, but here it is still an everyday event in the countryside.

The Welsh are often called wizards and witches by the other nations in the UK – especially the non-Celtic English. My father told me that my mother and her mother really were witches. White Witches. He was not joking.

I think about that often when I am brewing a cup of Fennel for indigestion, sipping home-made Ginger Beer, sprinkling Turmeric on my food to ease my backpain. This is not new. This is very old – it is a way of coming full circle with the past.

I have spent the last month or so building something new out of something old. A library of articles about herbal teas – almost 200 now. A YouTube channel with a few hundred short videos. And now, a shop – The Herbal Tea Shop – where you can buy the very teas I write about. I spend time looking for the best sources to recommend, and they despatch worldwide.

Every product is curated for purity and potency. Nothing is random. Everything is chosen because it works.

If you are curious about herbs and herbal teas, I would like to invite you to see what I have been building. I also hope that you will support me by subscribing to my mailing list and YouTube channel – they’re free.

The West seems to be coming full circle as far as herbs are concerned. Our health services are stretched too far, and private health systems are too expensive for most, so people are going back to the old ways – herbs. Many people in many countries are coming full circle. Try it!

Herbal tea is not magic. But sometimes it feels like it.

But maybe that’s just the Welsh in me, and me coming full circle.
